McKenzie dethrones LTI

– PC Girls trump Marian Academy

The seventh edition of Youth Basketball Guyana’s (YBG) Titan Bowl came to an end in spectacular fashion on Sunday evening at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall (CASH) when new champions were crowned.

McKenzie High School dethroned LTI to win the seventh edition of the YBG Titan Bowl

In the male competition, defending champions Linden Technical Institute (LTI) had no answer to McKenzie High School’s Yannick Tappin who blew his opponents away in a performance worthy of a final.
The score line read 91-74 in favour of the McKenzie outfit that was dominant in dethroning LTI. Tappin who was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player (MVP) had a game high 44 points with six assists, six rebounds and eight steals. His supporting cast came in the form of Kevlon Cadogan who sank 14 points and grabbed seven rebounds with Leon Benjamin netting 13 points as well as 11 rebounds.
LTI’s futile resistance came courtesy of Dillon Pellew’s 14 points, 10 rebounds and George Yearwood’s 13 points with Jamal Gilkes contributing 18 points and 15 rebounds.
On the distaff side, President’s College (PC) triumphed over Marian Academy in a nail biter of a final.
The game was decided by a mere point as the PC ladies won 24-23 to break the hearts of the spirited Marian Academy divas.
For the victors Annalisa Barclay played a lead role taking seven points from the pain and grabbing five rebounds; Barclay was ably deputized by Roschelle Campbell who contributed six points along with fifteen rebound and three steals.
The runner-ups were literally carried by Jada Mohan who scored all but four points for her team recording 19 points, seven rebounds and six steals; however in the end her mammoth effort was not enough.
