Mckinnon defends title at El Dorado trading steel challenge

On Saturday Ryan McKinnon defended his title as the Guyana Sports Shooting Federation hosted a Steel Challenge Shooting Association Tier1 match to commemorate its second anniversary at the Yarrowcabra range.
The tournament which was exclusively sponsored El Dorado Trading the Licensed Gold Dealers of Lot 136 Young Street, Kingston, Georgetown has seen McKinnon return to them for a second time in as many year as his accuracy was superior to the rest of the field.
The steel challenge shooting competition is held to commemorate the anniversary of the GSSF, with the first being fired off in June 2015.

In that year, McKinnon emerged victorious and walked away from the Range hoisting the El Dorado Trading Steel Challenge Cup along with his first place prize. This time around, he returned to the Yarrowcabra ranges to put up a successful defense of his title and etch his name on the Cup once more.
The three stage match consisted of sanctioned S.C.S.A. stages, namely Five to Go, Accelerator, and Pendulum. With safety and efficiency in mind, the match administrators placed the shooters into two squads, thereby shooting two separate stages simultaneously, before finally converging on the stage Pendulum.
In every stage competitors were required to shoot five steel targets, positioned at various angles and distances, one of which is designated as a “Stop plate” which is shot last. Registering a hit on the stop plate stops the time. The total time it takes to hit all five plates is used for the score (your time is your score.) Any misses add three penalties seconds to the time per miss. The best four out of five strings make up the total time per stage and ultimately the shooter with lowest time (score) wins.
Shooters competed in two divisions, namely Limited and Wildcat, which saw the use of 9mm and .32 pistols respectively. The main attraction of this particular match was that competitors who were shooting full power handguns (Limited Division) competed for the privilege of lifting the El Dorado Trading Steel Challenge Cup.
Scoring was done using a digital timer which records times according to when a shot is fired. As shooters completed each stage, their score sheets were submitted to the Stats Officer Dr. Pravesh Harry, who computed scores in a specialised software designed for the sport. When the smoke cleared the scores were calculated and the report submitted to the Match Director prior to the Presentation Ceremony which was held at the Range.
Director of Sport, Mr. Christopher Jones presented trophies to the winners in the Wildcat Division: Jagmohan Bassoo was the top shooter and Roberto Hochand finish second.
Pavaski Jagmohan of El Dorado Trading then presented the trophies for the Limited Division. First up was Rajiv Latchana who placed third with a total time of 96.19 seconds chasing GSSF President Vidushi Persaud-McKinnon, who secured second place with a time of 94.96 seconds. Ryan McKinnon, once again earned the top spot shooting a total time of 69.34 seconds in this Match.
Before handing the champion his trophy, Pavaski Jagmohan expressed congratulatory remarks to all the prize winners then presented the now two-time winner of the El Dorado Steel Challenge Cup with the Challenge Cup.
