Men busted with ganja by CANU granted bail

Derych Roach and Glen Forde

Two men who were busted by agents of the Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit (CANU) with a quantity of ganja were granted bail by Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan when they appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts on Tuesday.
Derych Roach and Glen Forde were both charged with the possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking.
CANU stated that on April 10, 2021, at Light Street Alberttown, Roach was found with 206 grams of ganja, along with US$20 and $283,700 in local currency.
After the charge was read to him, he refused to plead and as such a not guilty plea was entered on his behalf. As such, he was released on $150,000 bail and ordered to report to the CANU Headquarters once per month until the conclusion of the matter.
On the other hand, Forde was granted $20,000 bail for the charge and was also ordered to report to CANU Headquarters once per month.
Forde denied the charge which alleged that on April 10, 2021, at his Lot 54 Fifth Street Alberttown home, he had 33 grams of cannabis in his possession along with $144,710 in cash.

The ganja that was confiscated during the raid

CANU reported that on the day in question, agents conducted a raid in the Alberttown area.
During the search, ranks swooped down on Forde’s home, where they found 33 grams of cannabis along with cash on top of his kitchen cupboard. As a result, he was cautioned and taken into custody.
Shortly after, ranks conducted a search at the home of Roach during which 206 grams of ganja was unearthed together with the aforementioned cash.
Both men are expected to return to court on May 12.
