Three men, all of whom were charged, were hauled before separate courts for break and entry and theft.
In the first case, Orin Burnette called “Monkey Man” appeared at No 51 Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Alex Moore via Skype.
It was reported that the accused was charged for simple larceny under Section 164 of the Criminal Law (Offences) Act, Chapter 8:01.
Police said the man was arrested on Wednesday last after he stole a quantity of clothing valued $71,200.
The accused appeared at Number 51 Magistrate’s Court and the charge was read and he was released on $200,000 bail. The case was adjourned to January 6, 2022.
Meanwhile, 27-year-old Azad Mohamed of Annandale North, East Coast Demerara (ECD), and 19-year-old Rasheed Mohamed of lot 47 Annandale North, ECD, appeared at Vigilance Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Fabayo Azore, where the charge was read to them and they both pleaded not guilty.
The 19 and 27-year-old were charged for burglary contrary to Section 233 of the Criminal Law (Offences) Act, Chapter 8:01.
Bail was refused and both men have been remanded to jail. The case will continue on January, 10, 2022.
