Co-Director of the Petra Organisation famed for its unparalleled school football programme, Troy Mendonca declared 2025 a successful year for the organisation after the recent conclusion of the KFC Goodwill School International Football Tournament.
“Like I said, we are happy that we can use the private sector and the Government and bring them together for one goal, which is to have school football play at the facility [Ministry of Education ground]. We had a very good year; we were able to run all our competitions, and more so, we were able to gain assistance with a seating facility that will definitely enhance the support base.”
Mendonca also noted that while a standout moment of 2025 for the Petra Organisation was the installation of the KFC Grandstand at the Ministry of Education ground, seeing player growth was also amazing to watch.
“To see a player like Mr Baksh coming to our tournament with the Plaisance Orphanage as an under-11 and graduating through the ranks to an under-18 player representing Chase… All in all, I think we had a very good year. We hope to continue in the same vein in 2026 and, of course, pay some attention to the facility, especially the playing area or playing surface.”
The KFC Goodwill School International Football Tournament was the final tournament of the year for the Petra Organisation, where Chase successfully defended their title against St Benedict College of Trinidad.
