Mercy Wings impress at SS Windball Competition

Mercy Wings claimed both male and female titles of the National Sports Commission (NSC)/AL Sport & Tour Promotions-sponsored inaugural Special Schools Windball Cricket Competition.

In the female category, Wings contested the final against Saint Barnabus at the Jubilee Park where the latter were invited to bat after losing the toss.
Saint Barnabus posted 38-1 off their five overs as Faithie King topscored with 16.
Mercy Wings lost no wickets in their reply as they reached 41-0, with Tramaine Trotz leading the way with 23.
Meanwhile, Mercy Wings Boys took on Sophia Special School in the final and prevailed with a solid run chase.
Sophia set 41 for victory after making 40-3 when their overs had expired, but the opposition easily reached 42-1, with Denelison Sealey contributing 20.
It was Mercy Wings’ second match against Sophia; the first saw the tournament winners make 96-3 before restricting the opposition to 75-6. Sophia defeated Saints Barnabus’ male side to have another opportunity at Wings, but still managed to come out on the losing end.
