Milerock upset GDF

– Buxton sink NA United

Milerock Football Club recorded a much needed victory against the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) on Sunday evening when the two sides met in the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) Elite League III.
Playing at the home, Camp Ayanganna Ground saw GDF needled by the Linden side who moved onto six points and overtook Ann’s Grove (4 points) to be seventh in the ten-team tournament. GDF remain at third on 14 points trailed closely by Den Amstel (13) and Victoria Kings (12).
Meanwhile, Buxton United moved closer to the Kings on the points table with their win over New Amsterdam on Sunday. Buxton now have ten points and still sit at sixth.
Western Tigers head the table with 19 points while Fruta Conquerors are second with 18 points. In contrast, NA United have only recorded one win while Cougars are yet to make a mark on the table; they sit 9th and 10th, respectively.
The army men were handed their second defeat of the tournament as they battled with Milerock to a goalless first half.
However, Randy Jerome found the back of the net two minutes into the second half; a question which the defending champions had no answer for.
In the other match, Deshane Garnette scored in the both halves to ensure a 2 – 0 win against the Berbician side. Garnette scored as early as the seventh minute, the completed his brace in the 69th minute.
