Milerock, Winners Connection progress to final 8

Milerock and Winners Connection did not disappoint their home fans in Linden on Friday evening as they contrastingly book their quarterfinal berths in the inaugural Guyana Football Federation (GFF) ‘Super 16 Year-end Classic’ after the opening rounds at the McKenzie Sports Club Ground.
Milerock crushed Cougars 3-0. Oswald Benjamin, Denzil Fordyce and Joel McKinnon scored in the second minute, 16th and 20th minute respectively.
On the other hand, Winners Connection edged Camptown 4-3 on sudden death penalty kicks, after normal and extra time ended 2-2.
Keon Cameron scored in the 35th minute for Winners Connection, while Benjamin Opara added to the scoreline in the 89th minute. For Camptown, Ozeal Small found the back of the net in the 26th and 64th minute.

The event resumes today at the Den Amstel ground with a doubleheader. Pouderoyen will oppose Guyana Defence Force (GDF) from 13:00hrs, while Den Amstel engages the Indigenous All-Stars at 15:30h.
The tournament then continues on Wednesday at the Tucville ground. At 18:30h, Western Tigers oppose Grove Hi-Tech, while Fruta Conquerors tackle Ann’s Grove at 20:30h.
The final matches in the round of 16 stage commences is on Friday at the Buxton Community ground when Victoria Kings will oppose the Guyana Police Force at 18:00h and Buxton United lock horns with New Amsterdam United from 21:00h.
The event which is being sponsored by Top Brandz Distributors under the Corona Beer Brand, will feature 16 teams competing in a straight knockout format.
January 1st is slated for the championship match at the National Stadium, Providence. Winner of the event will pocket $2,000,000 and a trophy, while the runner-up will collect $1,000,000 and the respective accolade.
On the other hand, the third and fourth place finishers will walk away with $500,000 and $250,000 correspondingly.
