Milton Robert Pydana, the only Guyanese wicketkeeper to have featured for the West Indies in One Day Internationals, passed away in his adopted homeland of USA on April 15 last, and will be laid to rest in Guyana on Monday, May 12, 2025, his request for his remains to be interred in the land of his birth being honoured.
Born on January 27, 1950 in the Ancient County of Berbice, the exploits of Milton Pydana, aka ‘The Gloves Man’, are well documented the world over, with Cricket West Indies and the Guyana Cricket Board being among others paying glowing tributes to the late player.
A Night of Reflection will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2025 at the Demerara Cricket Club Ground in Queenstown from 17:30hrs, where it is anticipated that those attending and who would have had interaction with Pydana, would go down memory lane as they reflect on his playing career.
The funeral service for the late Milton Robert Pydana will take place on Monday, May 12, 2025 at the Central Assembly of God Church, Lot 330 Church and East Street, Cummingsburg, Georgetown, Guyana.
Viewing of the remains will be held from 13:00hrs, to be followed by a thanksgiving service from 14:00hrs, with his final resting place being the Bel Air Cemetery. A repast will be held at DCC Ground following the burial.
