A miner arrested on Friday after he was found to be in possession of 3 kilograms 94.7 grams of cannabis hidden in All Terrain Vehicle (ATV) tryes at Apaiqua Landing Region Seven (Cuyuni-Mazaruni).
The cannabis that was found in the tyres
Police stated that the ranks, at about 12:00h on Friday went to Apaiqua Landing, Middle Mazaruni River in Region Seven (Cuyuni-Mazaruni) where, on arrival, they contacted the miner of Mahaica, East Coast Demerara (ECD) who had two boxes, one bag and two black A.T.V tyres in his possession.
As a result, he was told of their suspicion and requested to carry out a search on his belongings, to which he agreed.
He was taken to the Enachu Police Station where a search was initiated. Whilst searching, the two A.T.V tyres, several parcels were found wrapped with black scotch tape.
Upon inspection, the ganja was unearthed. The cannabis was weighed in the suspect’s presence and amounted to 3 KG 94.7 grams. Investigations are ongoing.
