The cannabis that was found in the miner’s possession
A miner who hails from Vryheids Lust, East Coast Demerara (ECD), was arrested on Saturday after he was found with a quantity of ganja at Golden Fleece, West Coast Berbice (WCB).
Police acting on information received swooped down on the house at Golden Fleece and found the suspect hiding in a clump of bushes.
Upon seeing the ranks, the man started to run but he was subsequently apprehended by the ranks, who gave chase.
At the time of his arrest, he was carrying a blue and black haversack which, when searched, revealed two bulky transparent parcels containing the illegal plant.
He was told of the offence and arrested. The cannabis was weighed in his presence and amounted to 1560 grams.
