Principal Magistrate Judy Latchman on Wednesday read an attempted murder charge to a Cummings Lodge, Greater Georgetown resident.
Chatterpaul Singh, 35, was not allowed to plead to the indictable charge which stated that on July 4, 2016, he attempted to commit murder by wounding Chatternauth Persaud on Sheriff Street, Georgetown.
In court on Wednesday, the Virtual Complainant (VC) informed the court that he did not wish to pursue the matter. He was, however, advised to write the Police on the matter.
Singh, a miner, was released on $100,000 bail. The case will continue on June 12.
Reports are Persaud and Singh are known to each other. On the day of the incident, Singh reportedly saw the VC chatting with his girlfriend which annoyed him, and an argument ensued. The two ended up in a fight and Persaud was stabbed.
