Miner fined over unlawful assault

A 21-year-old miner of Kamarang Village appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan on a charge of unlawful assault at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.
David Robinson pleaded guilty to the charge which stated that on October 1, at Kamarang Village, he unlawfully assaulted Mahindra Hunter so as to cause actual bodily harm.The prosecution disclosed that on the day in question, the defendant and the Virtual Complainant (VC), who are known to each other, had a misunderstanding, which resulted in a fight. As such, Hunter sustained a fractured shoulder.
Robinson pleaded guilty to the charge and was fined $25, 000, with an alternative sentence of eight weeks in prison. He was also placed on a bond to keep the peace for the next 12 months.
