Miner granted bail for narco-trafficking

A miner appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts on Monday to answer to a narcotic trafficking charge.

Marlon King

Twenty-six-year-old Marlon King of Lot 608 Ninth Street, Cummings Lodge, East Coast Demerara, pleaded not guilty to the charge when it was read to him by Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan.
The charge stated that on June 14, 2019 at Linden-Soesdyke Highway, East Bank Demerara, he had 8.3 grams of cannabis in his possession for the purpose of trafficking.
Prosecutor Gordon Mansfield did not object to bail; however, he disclosed to the court that the prosecution file was complete.
Chief Magistrate McLennan granted the defendant bail in the sum of $70,000, and his next court appearance was scheduled for June 26, 2019 at the Linden Magistrates’ Courts.
