A miner of Region Seven (Cuyuni-Mazaruni) was wounded on Saturday, August 13, by a 17-year-old female at Pompey’s Shop in Imbaimadai Landing in the Upper Mazaruni River.
Injured is 31-year-old Primo Sargon, a miner from Philippi Village in the Upper Mazaruni River.
According to reports, at around 20:00h on the day in question, the miner and the suspect’s sister had a misunderstanding which later turned into a scuffle.
During the scuffle, the suspect armed herself with a beer bottle and dealt the victim one blow to his head.
The injured miner was taken to the Imbaimadai Health Centre where he was admitted and later discharged. The suspect has since been arrested as investigations are ongoing.
