Miner jailed for $1.9M robbery, accomplices granted bail

Eon Ward, 29, also known as “Killa” was on Friday sentenced to four years’ imprisonment by Magistrate Wanda Fortune after he was found guilty of armed robbery.
The court heard that Ward, a miner of Lot 27 South Amelia’s Ward, Mackenzie, Linden, robbed Collin Gomes of six ounces and three pennyweights of raw gold worth $1.9 million at the KD&J Supermarket at Amelia’s Ward on July 14, 2020.
In addition, Kim Giddings, Renard Caesar and Kellon Daniels were also charged for the offence.
Giddings and Caesar pleaded not guilty and were both granted bail in the sum of $400,000 each and are scheduled to return to court on September 11 for statements.
The other accused, Kellon Daniels, is yet to be apprehended by Police.
However, Ward was slapped with another robbery under arms charge allegedly committed against Sheneca Benjamin at Amelia’s Ward on the same date.
Benjamin was relieved of her mobile phone and an undisclosed sum of cash. Ward, nevertheless, pleaded not guilty to the charge and was remanded to prison until September 11 in relation to this matter.
