Miner killed, body dumped in latrine

The partially decomposed body of a 25-year-old miner was found in a pit latrine (toilet) in Tassawini Backdam, North West District, Region One (Barima-Waini).
Dead is Darvin David of Tassawini Landing, North West District, Region One. Reports are David was killed by three other miners during an argument.
This newspaper was told that on Friday last, David along with the three suspects were consuming alcoholic beverages at Marcus Hope’s shop at Tassawini Backdam when David accused one of the men of trying to rob him of his cash. As a result of the accusation, an argument ensued between him and the suspects. This newspaper was told that David then left the shop to go home but the three men followed him and another confrontation ensued at Tassawini Backdam trail.
Guyana Times was further told that David was stabbed to his throat and was thrown overboard into a creek.
This newspaper was told that the men then returned and removed the body from the creek and dumped it in a latrine.
Following the discovery of David’s partially decomposed body on Wednesday, the police arrested two of the three suspects.
Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
