Miner nabbed after dropping ganja upon seeing cops

Police have arrested a miner after he allegedly dropped a quantity of ganja upon seeing law enforcement officers.
The incident occurred at about 20:30h, along the Ogle Public Road, East Coast of Demerara (ECD), on Thursday while a party of policemen was on mobile patrol in the area.
It was reported that a Guyana Police Force rank observed two men at the entrance of a gas station located at Ogle on the East Coast of Demerara, and according to the ranks, the men were “looking suspicious”.
Upon questioning the men, they were identified as a 27-year-old gold miner of West Ruimveldt, Georgetown, and an 18-year-old a fish cleaner of James and Barr Streets, Georgetown.
In a report from Police, it was indicated that upon seeing the officers, the 27-year-old suspect dropped a transparent plastic bag that had red writing on it.
The patrol immediately stopped and the Police rank checked the bag and found a quantity of leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be cannabis.
The 27-year-old was arrested and taken to the Sparendaam Police Station, ECD, where the narcotic was weighted in his presence and amounted to 4.8 grams. He was placed into custody pending investigations.
