Miner nabbed with gun, loot after robbery

Police in F Division (Interior Locations) on Saturday nabbed a 21-year-old miner one day after he robbed a shopkeeper at Matthews Ridge, North West District (NWD), Region One (Barima-Waini).

According to reports, the robbery occurred on Friday at Bamboo Landing, NWD, during which the suspect held the female victim at gunpoint before relieving her of quantities of cash and raw gold as well as other valuables.
The perpetrator then escaped, and the matter was reported to the Police. However, the following day, the suspect was apprehended at Matthews Ridge Flatts.
He was taken into custody and has since admitted to the crime during interrogation. Several of the stolen items were recovered on his person at the time of his arrest.
Moreover, the 21-year-old suspect of Minab, Matthews Ridge, also took investigators to a location at Hell Hill, Matthews Ridge, where he handed over to the Police, an unlicensed 9mm pistol with a magazine and 19 live matching rounds.
The investigation is in progress.
