
A 30-year-old miner from Mainstay Lake, Essequibo Coast, Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam) was granted bail after appearing before the Anna Regina Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday on a charge of sexual activity with a child.
Reyon Pearson was charged under Section 16 (3) (a) (ii) of the Sexual Offences Act, Chapter 8:03, in relation to an incident allegedly committed against a female juvenile on January 4, 2025, at Mainstay Lake.
Pearson appeared before Magistrate Ravindra Mohabir, where the charge was read to him.
Following advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions for summary disposal of the matter, the Administration of Justice Act (AJA) was applied by the prosecutor, after which Pearson pleaded not guilty.
The court granted Pearson bail in the sum of $500,000 with conditions that he report to the Anna Regina Police Station every Friday, and remain at least 100 feet away from the alleged victim while having no contact with her.
The case was adjourned to August 19.
