A minibus conductor is feared drowned after he was submerged by a heavy wave while swimming with friends at the Unity Foreshore, East Coast Demerara (ECD) on Sunday.
The missing man has been identified as 30-year-old Rabindranauth Persaud of Lot 123 Logwood, Enmore, ECD.
Based on reports received, the young man left home around 06:00h on the day in question and about 14:00h, a call was made to the Mahaica Police Station, with the person on the other side of the line reporting the Persaud was covered by a wave and never resurfaced.
As such, ranks went to the scene and a search ensued for the missing man, but there were no signs of him up to late Sunday evening. Police have since questioned several persons who were at the Foreshore, but they all held out that Persaud was covered by a wave while he was swimming.
Police are continuing the investigations.
