Minibus driven by policeman topples

…2 injured

Two persons had to be rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPHC) after the minibus in which they were travelling toppled on the Mahaicony Public Road, East Coast Demerara (ECD).
Injured are Gregory Halley, 33, of Zeskendren, East Coast Demerara (ECD) and Prince Harte, 33 of Paradise, East Coast Demerara (ECD).
Guyana Times understands that the incident occurred at around 20:30hrs when minibus BRR249, being driven in a westerly direction along the Letter T Public Road, Mahaicony by a police corporal, confronted the bright lights of a vehicle proceeding in the opposite direction. The corporal reported being suddenly blinded by the bright lights, and swerving further south to avoid a collision. This caused the minibus to become uncontrollable and toppling several times. Those in the bus were pulled from the wreckage and rushed to the hospital.
Halley and Harte were both admitted to the facility, but are now said to be in a stable condition.
The corporal and other passengers also received minor injures, but were treated and sent away. A breathalyser test conducted on the cop showed no alcohol in his system.
The Police are investigating this incident.
