Minibus driver attacked, chopped to death

A route 42 minibus driver was on Tuesday evening chopped to death moments after he reportedly exited the vehicle at Kuru Kururu, Soesdyke-Linden Highway. The dead man has been identified as 38-year-old Marcus Thomas formerly of Coverden, East Bank Demerara (EBD).
Based on reports received, within seconds after exiting his minibus, he was attacked by his in-laws with whom he had a feud over an old grievance back in December 2020. Thomas’ throat was reportedly slit and his body bore several chops.
The perpetrators reportedly fled the scene after committing the act. An uncle of the dead man when contacted explained that he spoke with his nephew just before he left a carwash at Coverden for home.
He was in total disbelief when he heard the devastating news. However, Thomas’ sister noted that she was at home when she received the news of her brother’s death.
She explained that the incident might have stemmed from an old grievance. The woman explained that she was not sure what had transpired but noted that her brother has been living with his in-laws for some time now.
His body was taken to Lyken’s Funeral Home awaiting a post-mortem. An investigation is underway.
