Minibus driver, conductor slapped with several charges
In light of a disturbing video on social media of an overloaded minibus with school children, the driver and the conductor have been arrested and slapped with several charges. The arrest was initiated on Thursday along the East Bank Public
Road.
The driver of the minibus BWW 7259, Leon Jaggernaught, 38, of Laluni Soesdyke/Highway; and conductor Joshua Khan, 22, of Lot 560 Golden Grove, East Bank Demerara, are expected to make their appearance at the Providence Magistrate’s Court today.
They were charged with overcrowded front seat, breach of insurance, untidy driver, overloaded minibus, untidy conductor and unlicensed conductor.
In the video posted on social media, it showed a total of 45 school children being packed in the minibus; an accusation that the driver and conductor denied.
