Minibus driver Nazeer Mohamed, charged for causing the death of motorcyclist Timothy Emanuel Assing on the Nismes Public Road, West Bank Demerara early on the morning of August 7, 2016, was on Thursday freed of the offence by West Demerara Magistrate Rushell Liverpool.
Mohamed had reportedly been driving his minibus in a southerly direction on the eastern carriageway of the Nismes Public Road while Assing and his pillion rider, Shellon Glasgow, had been travelling in a northerly direction on the motorcycle when he allegedly was blinded by the headlights of the oncoming minibus and veered into its path. The resultant head-on collision had caused the minibus to end up in the trench on the eastern side of the public road.
Assing died while being transported to the West Demerara Regional Hospital (WDRH), while Glasgow had received treatment for injuries to her mouth.
Mohamed had, for the last several months, been appearing at the Wales Magistrate’s Court to answer the charge. His case was initially presided over by Senior Magistrate Clive Nurse, who was recently installed as resident Magistrate in Linden.
