Speaking with sports journalists on Saturday, Minister Ramson revealed that he has been in discussion with Cricket West Indies (CWI) President Ricky Skerritt and the Guyana Cricket Board’s (GCB) Anand Sanasie. While Ramson did not disclose what was discussed with these cricket authorities, he hinted there has been discussion related to ironing out administrative issues at the GCB.
Additionally, Ramson, who made reference to the historical site of the Georgetown Cricket Club, is considering a spot at which to set up a potential sports museum. In relation to the renaming of the National Stadium at Providence, he said that is something that is not high on his agenda, although it was brought to his attention.
Ramson also disclosed that he has had discussions with lawyers, and will be meeting with these lawmen in the upcoming week.

The High Court has ruled (on Wednesday April 3, 2019) that the Executive Committee of the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) is illegal. It was made public during last year that the current group of executives cannot hold themselves out to be office bearers, or perform functions of the Board. That cricket body has since contested numerous matters in court.
Cricket activities have continued in Guyana under the Cricket Guyana Inc (CGI). “With regards to the purported elections they (GCB) had in January 2018 and elected Fizul Bacchus as President and the current executive, the election was (deemed) unlawful, and they (the executives) shouldn’t hold themselves out as members of the Executive Committee of the Guyana Cricket Board.”
“Under the Act, it is clear the first election has to be held by the Cricket Ombudsman. There are currently no executive officers of the Guyana Cricket Board, and the present committee members should not hold themselves out as officers of the Guyana Cricket Board”.
More details on the GCB administrative issue will be discussed during the upcoming week.
