Forty-seven-year-old Jegede Hodge of Plantation Mocha, East Bank Demerara appeared on Tuesday before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan to answer a charge of rape of a minor.
He was not required to plead to the indictable charge, which alleged that between September 1st and 30th, 2017, while at Lot 19 Plantation Mocha EBD, he engaged in sexual penetration of the child, who was under the age of consent.
The Police Prosecutor stated that, on the day in question, the child was left in Hodge’s care when he committed the act.
Hodge has been placed on $300,000 bail, and the case has been set for continuation on September 13.
