With competitive local football having ‘bounced back’ into action, Mohamed’s Enterprises was eager to get in on the highly anticipated action.
Managing Director of the company, Nazar Mohamed, said yesterday he is “certainly happy to see the sport is back.”
Mohamed, who presented a sponsorship cheque to GFF President Wayne Forde to aid in the ‘Bounce Back’ tournament which got underway last night, also commended the principals for staging the event.
“I am happy that the Minister of Sport, the GFF, and the Kashif and Shanghai Organisation have taken this initiative, and I am happy to be a part of this competition,” he said.
The business magnate pointed out that he has been sponsoring sports events for the better part of three decades, and highlighted that sport is a very important part of bringing people together.
He wished the tournament, the players and the organisers success, and wished them a Happy New Year.
Meanwhile, the ‘Bounce Back’ tournament kicked off yesterday at the National Stadium at Providence with Linden All Stars tackling the East Coast All Stars in the curtain-raiser of the double- header.
The GT All Stars also took on the Westside All Stars in the headliner of the first football tournament staged here amid the pandemic.
The two-day, four-team competition is a collaborative effort involving the Guyana Football Federation; the Kashif and Shanghai (K&S) Organization; and the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport.
It will be held without spectators and will conclude on January 1, 2021.
The two final teams will play on New Year’s Day, and the action will be broadcasted live on NCN, E-Networks and the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport’ Facebook page.
