Mon Repos youth busted with ganja remanded to prison

Days after he was busted with 3730 grams of ganja in an intelligence-led Police operation at Mon Repos, East Coast Demerara (ECD), Romel Ramsingh was remanded to prison when he appeared at the Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

Police stated that a team of ranks went to the location and unearthed the ganja concealed in a white plastic and tied in a black plastic bag. At the time, Ramsingh was carrying the cannabis in his hands and upon seeing the Police, he attempted to dispose of same in a parked van.
As such, he was apprehended, told of the offence and taken to the Beterverwagting Police Station, where the ganja was weighed in his presence and amounted to 3730 grams.
However, he made his court appearance on Monday charged for Possession of Narcotics for the Purpose of Trafficking, Contrary.
The charge was read to him by Magistrate A George, who remanded him to prison until August 31, 2021, after he pleaded not guilty to the charge.
