Monedderlust hammer Golden Star to stay unbeaten

Kevin Cottoy scored a double on Friday night, adding to the hat trick he netted in the opener of the tournament to help Monedderlust out play an almost helpless Golden Star FC when action continued in the GT BEER/Berbice Football Association /Candy Boss and Antics Promotion invitational Inter Club 8-A -Side Football Tournament continued at the All Saints School Ground .

Cottoy was on target two minutes into the game and then registered his second goal 37th minute. However, the night belonged to Raynel Frank who scored in the 24th , 25th and 39th minutes to ensure his team had a comfortable 6-0 lead before Terrence Lewis pulled one back for Golden Star with just a few seconds left in the game. Jamal Joseph accounted for the other goal for Monedderlust.
Meanwhile Berbice Police gained a walk over from Beacons FC and is on four points from two matched with a +3 goal difference.
Republican took full advantage of the crowd support to record a hard fought 2-1 win over Soccer City in the final match of the evening. Action in the competition continues tonight with three more games.
In the opening game Beacons FC are expected to battle Arsenal FC at 19:00h followed by the encounter between the pre-tournament favourites GT Police and Mahaicony FC
The final game of the evening will bring together the crowd pleasing Edinburg Gunners and Young Strikers Eighteen teams will be participating in the tournament with two groups of four and two of five teams each. (Andrew Carmichael)
