Home News More NIS staff test positive for COVID-19
The National Insurance Scheme (NIS) has, for the second time this week, paused operations at another branch after more employees tested positive for coronavirus.
NIS said that operations at the Bartica, Region Seven (Cuyuni-Mazaruni) office would be temporarily interrupted for the remainder of the week. This, management said, is owing to the fact that some employees tested positive for COVID-19 while others are still being screened.
In light of this situation, the management of NIS has made a decision to suspend all services with the exception of the distribution of pension books which will continue throughout the week.
On Wednesday, NIS had announced that operations would be paused temporarily at the New Amsterdam branch. Management had said that this closure was as a result of five members of staff of that branch testing positive for coronavirus.
Despite the interruption of a number of services, NIS had said that the distribution of pension books would continue throughout the week.
