Witness Express and Trophy Stall have both jumped on board by sponsoring the Guyana Amateur Power Lifting Federation’s (GAPLF) Raw Nationals billed for Sunday at the Critchlow Labour College, Woolford Avenue.
Jamie Mc Donald of Fitness Express who has, for almost a decade, played a pivotal role in the development of power lifting by sponsoring individual athletes and competitions hosted by the GAPLF throughout its calendar year come on board while Trophy Stall has also renewed its relationship with the GAPLF. Trophy Stall collaborated over seven years ago with the GAPLF having recently sponsored 2 competitions this far in 2016.
Sunday’s competition is well anticipated as being the largest the federation will host. A total of 41 lifters are registered including 8 females. Athletes will be competing Unequipped in various categories such as Male and Female Sub Junior, Male and Female Junior, Male and Female Open and Male and Female Masters. Overall, Sunday promises to be a very Exciting day of Lifting and the GAPLF encourages all Power lifting Enthusiasts to come out in their numbers to support the federation and the athletes. Athletes are being reminded that weigh in commences 08:00h and ends at 09:30h sharp. Athletes who arrive after the weigh in time will not be allowed to compete.
Athletes are also being reminded of the GAPLF’s relaxed dress code which allows the use of tights in the absence of a lifting singlet, lifting belts from all manufacturers are allowed and NEOPRENE knee sleeves of any brand are also allowed. Lifters may use wrist wraps, flats or Lifting shoes are allowed, No Supportive Gear such as Groove Briefs or Erector Shirts will not be allowed. Knee high lifting socks are required for the deadlift. Plain Round Neck T-shirts or T-shirts bearing the logo of a Competition sponsor or Gym being represented may also be worn. Athletes are being urged to adhere to these regulations since any unauthorized equipment will be disallowed at the competition.
Tickets are $500 and entrance fee at the door remains the same. Food and drinks will be on sale.
