Moruca man charged for fracturing relative’s skull

A Santa Cruz, Moruca, Region One (Barima-Waini) man was granted bail when he made his appearance at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts charged with unlawful wounding.

Linton Daniels, 44, of Big Canoe Bali Creek, Santa Cruz, was charged with wounding his relative Vanancio Daniels when he appeared before Chiefdaniels Magistrate Ann McLennan.

He pleaded not guilty to the charge which alleged that on November 30, 2016, he unlawfully and maliciously inflicted grievous bodily harm on Vanancio Daniels.

According to the prosecution’s case, the two were both consuming alcohol when a fight ensued, during which the defendant armed himself with a piece of wood and dealt the Virtual Complainant (VC) several lashes to his head.

The man sustained a fractured skull as a result of the blows. However, the prosecution revealed that he was discharged from hospital and as such the defendant was granted $75,000 bail. The case will continue on April 4.
