Mother of 5 jailed for stealing $280,000

A woman was on Wednesday jailed when she appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts, charged for robbery.
Melinda Beaton, 31, of 45 A Field Sophia, Greater Georgetown, pleaded guilty to the charge when it was read to her.
It is alleged that on September 5, 2016 at Independence Boulevard, she stole 0,000 in cash from Curt Steele.
The woman told the court that she offered to sell the Virtual Complainant a phone for 00, but instead he indicated that he preferred to have a sexual favour , a request with which she complied. After the intimate act occurred, the man fell asleep, and she stole the money and left.
The mother of five told the Magistrate that she needed the money to buy school supplies. She was jailed for 18 months.
