Mother pleads for safe return of missing 13-year-old daughter
A teenager has been missing for almost seven days and her parents are asking for the public’s assistance in locating her. Thirteen-year-old Alliyah Busgith was last seen on Tuesday last by her mother at their Corentyne, Region Six (East Berbice-Corentyne) home.
The child’s mother, Reshma Badrineauth, told Guyana Times that ever since her child’s disappearance, she tried to contact her friends and other persons who might have seen her, but all her efforts proved futile.
Badrineauth explained that on the day the teen disappeared, they had a meal together in the living room after which she (mother) went to take a shower. However, when she returned, her daughter was nowhere to be found.
According to the tearful mother, she did not have any arguments with the teen prior to her disappearance. She, however, is aware that Busgith is dating a 16-year-old that resulted in a court battle.
She revealed that a police report was filed at the Whim Police Station and the Childcare and Protection Agency is also a part of the search for the missing teen. However, she was instructed to go to Central Police Station in New Amsterdam and from there she was advised to go to Number 51 Police Station.
The woman accused the police of not taking the matter seriously since her daughter’s boyfriend is the son of a police officer.
“They said they can’t lock him [the 16-year-old] up because he is 16-year-old, so what about the 13-year-old that smaller? I feel very bad, I am upset, I want to tell my daughter that I love her and I need her back home. I really miss her.”
According to the teenager’s mother, she is tall, light in complexion with curly black hair. She further explained that she does not know what clothing the teen wore before she left the house, but she knows she left with a black shoe, because she noticed that it is missing from the house.
The mother is asking anyone who may have information on her daughter’s whereabouts to make contact with the nearest Police station or contact her on telephone number 683-3404.
