A 31-year-old mother of one was on Thursday night rushed to the Diamond Diagnostic Centre for emergency medical treatment after she was allegedly shot in the face by her reputed husband.
However, information coming in also suggests that the woman might have sustained injuries to the face, but
not shot, even though gunshots were reportedly heard.
Information about what exactly transpired remains sketchy, but the woman who has been identified as Natasha Harry is a student of the Carnegie School of Economics and resides in Kuru Kururu, Linden-Soesdyke Highway.
The man has been identified as “Shawn” and up to press time, he was still on the run. Relatives who spoke to this newspaper were unsure about the nature of the relationship Harry had with “Shawn”. Some indicated that he was a deportee from Barbados.
Guyana Times understands that the woman was involved in a heated argument with the man when he allegedly pulled out a gun and discharged a round in her face.
The incident occurred around 21:00h at her home.
Some relatives of the woman who were at the hospital explained that her aunt who was at the home at the time of the incident heard the gunshot and upon investigation saw the young woman lying on the ground bleeding out.
The man had already escaped.
According to reports, the aunt summoned nearby friends who immediately rushed her to the Diamond hospital
for treatment.
When Guyana Times arrived at the medical institution, the woman was being placed into an ambulance to be transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital for further treatment.
She is in stable condition.
An investigation has been launched into the matter.
