Just about two months ago, three vehicles belonging to a businessman of Betsy Ground, East Canje, Berbice (Region Six: East Berbice-Corentyne) were set on fire.
It was reported that the businessman had parked his vehicles – a bus, car, and canter – on his premises and had proceeded to the upper flat of his home. However, at around 20:00h on the day in question, he observed on one of his cameras that his motor vehicles were on fire.
As a result, he armed himself with his licensed firearms and ventured to the front of his yard, where he discharged several rounds in the air.
Subsequently, CCTV footage showed a male walking out of an access street situated to the west of the premises, and it was he who threw a substance on the vehicles and then lit them.
On man was later arrested for setting those vehicles on fire.
