Motorcycle bandits rob commuters at DHB

Hours after a motorcycle gang had staged a daring robbery on several commuters at the Demerara Harbour Bridge on Wednesday, two of the perpetrators were arrested at Castello Housing Scheme and in Albouystown, Georgetown respectively.

Those arrested are 15 years old and 23 years old.
The Police have said the command centre, via its CCTV system, captured four motorcycles, all with riders and pillion riders, robbing several persons at the eastern end of the Demerara Harbour Bridge.

The victims were relieved of three cellphones, a pink handbag, cash, lighters, cigarettes, a bunch of keys and a black 110 motorcycle.
After committing the act, the perpetrators then headed to Georgetown. As a result, anti-crime patrols in Division 4A were immediately alerted, and intercepted two of the suspects with one of the motorcycles.
The 23-year-old male was caught hiding in a dugout with water at North East La Penitence, while the 15-year-old was arrested in James Street, Albouystown.
Police have since recovered the stolen items. The two were taken into custody as Police continue their search for the other perpetrators.
