Following a robbery committed on two Police Officers and a city businessman, a male suspect has been arrested after he was found with a number of the stolen items.
According to Police reports, sometime around 11:55h on Friday, two ranks of the Guyana Police Force went at a Georgetown business location to retrieve surveillance footage in an ongoing investigation of a recent crime.
However during that process, two identifiable males approached and relieved the two unarmed ranks and the proprietor of a number of valuables, inclusive of their cellular phones and a wallet, after which they escaped on a motorcycle.
Shortly after the incident, other Police officers acting on information apprehended a suspect on Middle Dam, East La Penitence, with a haversack. Upon examining the bag, the ranks found two cell phones belonging to the proprietor as well as a bank card, an identification card and a wallet belonging to one of the officers who were robbed.
The suspect was arrested and taken into custody where he is assisting with investigations.
