Contractor Olsen Koala of D’Urban Street, Georgetown is now counting his losses after he was attacked by two men on a motorcycle and robbed of valuables, at about 22:25h on Saturday, while walking in Lamaha Springs, Georgetown en route to visit a friend.
Guyana Times was told that two men who were on a motorcycle rode up behind the 36-year-old Koala, circled him, and then proceeded to block his path.
The pillion rider dismounted as he whipped out a handgun from his waist, which he pointed at the victim and demanded that he hand over his valuables.
Terrified, Koala complied, but the perpetrator still discharged a round in the air before proceeding to rob the victim of his cell phone valued $40,000, a gold chain valued $20,000, and some $18,000 in cash.
The man then rejoined his accomplice on the motorcycle, and they made good their escape.
Police were informed of the incident, and an investigation is in progress.
One spent .32 shell has been recovered from the scene.
