Nigel Harvey of Lot 731 ‘C’ Field Sophia, Georgetown lost his life at about 06:35h on Tuesday after he crashed his motorcycle into a minibus at the intersection of Brickdam and Brummel Place in Georgetown.
Police investigation has revealed that minibus BWW 693, being driven by a 70-year-old man, was proceeding north along the western drive lane of Brummel Place while the 34-year-old Harvey was driving his motorcycle west along the southern drive lane of Brickdam; and when both men approached the intersection of Brickdam and Brummel Place, the traffic light there was not working.
Neither driver stopped at the intersection, and an
accident resulted when the front left portion of the motorcycle struck the front right portion of the minibus.

The impact of that collision flung the motorcyclist into the air, and he sustained grievous injuries to his head and other parts of his body when he fell onto the road surface.
He was picked up in an unconscious condition by Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT) and transported to the Georgetown Public Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The driver of the minibus, a resident of Lodge Housing Scheme, remains in custody, assisting with the investigation. (G9)
