Dead is 33-year-old Taiknauth Samlall, a supervisor attached to Kalibur Security Services who resided at Lot 5 Lancaster Unity, Mahaica.
According to reports, the accident occurred around 20:35h as Samlall was proceeding west along the roadway at a fast pace. He reportedly lost control of the motorcycle and collided with a utility pole on the southern parapet.
Samlall sustained severe injuries about his body as a result of the impact and was rushed to the Mahaicony Cottage Hospital in an unconscious state where he w

as pronounced dead on arrival.
His body is at Lyken’s Funeral Home awaiting a post-mortem examination.
When contacted, Samlall’s widow recalled talking with her husband about 30 minutes before the horrific accident.
Given his position as a supervisor, her husband would usually go to various locations to check on the security guards employed with the company, Singh related.
“Thirty minutes prior to his death, he called and he inquired what was cooking and he asked for his children, ages five and two months, and I told him and he said he will be home in 30 minutes. His last check-off is like 10 minutes or less and exactly halfway he had a head-on collision with a utility pole,” the grieving widow stated.
The woman described her husband as a “kind and family-oriented person”. June 16 would have been their sixth wedding anniversary and 13 years since they met.
Two-month-old baby
The widow stated that with her husband’s death, she feels as if her entire world is falling apart given the fact that the couple had a two-month-old baby. She is expected to return to work from maternity leave next month.
“It is hard because he has a two-month-old baby and his children were his everything. His older son, I don’t know if he understands, because he went out and shouting daddy and he came back and said ‘mommy, daddy is not answering me’,” Singh lamented. (Shemar Alleyne)
