Motorcyclist hospitalised after slamming into minibus
A motorcyclist is now hospitalised and nursing a fractured leg and multiple injuries about his body after he lost control of his motorcycle and slammed into the left side of a minibus at Third Avenue, Bartica.
Injured is 21-year-old Akeem Timmerman of Seventh Avenue, Bartica, Region Seven (Cuyuni-Mazaruni).
Reports are that around 13:00h on Monday, minibus BXX 6814 was proceeding north along the western side of Third Avenue, Bartica while Timmerman’s motorcycle, which had on a trade plate numbered JSP-1, was alongside the bus.
Guyana Times was told that the rider allegedly lost control of the motorcycle and ran into the left rear bumper of the minibus, resulting in him falling to the roadway and injuring himself.
Timmerman was picked up by public-spirited citizens, and was rushed to the Bartica Regional Hospital.
Meanwhile, Police said that a breathalyser test was administered on the 42-year-old minibus driver and no trace of alcohol was found.
The minibus, along with the motorcycle, that was involved in the accident are currently at the Bartica Police Station.
