Motorcyclist in serious condition after crashing into minibus at Lethem

A motorcyclist is in serious condition after he reportedly crashed into a minibus along the Lethem Public Road, Region Nine (Upper Takutu-Upper Essequibo) on Wednesday.
The injured man has been identified as 27-year-old Kellon Arthur of Lethem Central, Rupununi. Based on information received, the accident occurred around 18:00h and involved a minibus bearing registration number BVV 5217 driven by a 28-year-old man and the motorcycle.
The minibus had been reportedly parked behind a truck which was parked on the side of the road when the driver attempted to make a U-turn, but failed to ensure the road was clear and drove into the path of the motorcycle.
As a result, the motorcyclist collided with the front of the minibus. He was reportedly thrown into the air and landed on the road’s surface, sustaining injuries.
He was picked up in a conscious state and taken to the Lethem Regional Hospital, where he was admitted to the male ward.
The driver of the minibus was arrested and taken to the station, where a breathalyser test was conducted, and he was found to be above the prescribed limit. Police are continuing their investigations.
