Home News Motorcyclist injured after losing control of speeding bike
A speeding motorcyclist is now hospitalised and nursing multiple injuries about his body after he lost control of his bike along the Rupert Craig Highway in the vicinity of the Russian Embassy, Georgetown.
The injured biker is 37-year-old Andrew Bowman, of Cummings Lodge, East Coast Demerara (ECD).
Reports are that on Sunday at about 19:45h, Bowman was riding his motorcycle along with fellow bikers on the southern carriageway of the public road, to honour dead cyclist, Jude Bentley, when the accident occurred.
According to a video of the accident seen by this publication, Bowman was proceeding west on the Rupert Craig Highway at a fast rate of speed and was about to negotiate a left bend when he lost control of his motorcycle.
This resulted in him being hurled off his bike and falling onto the roadway.
Persons in the area who were attending a vigil for the late national cyclist, Jude Bentley, rushed to aid the injured man. He was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) where he was admitted.
