Motorcyclist injured in WCD accident

A 38-year-old motorcyclist is now hospitalised following an accident on the Zeeburg Public Road, West Coast Demerara (WCD).
Injured is Brian Smith, a carpenter of Canterbury Walk, Beterverwagting, East Coast Demerara (ECD).
Reports are Smith was riding motorcycle CJ 6040 at about 16:45h on Thursday when he collided with a minibus driven by a 33-year-old female of Uitvlugt, WCD.
Police said the minibus was proceeding east along the Northern side of the Zeeburg Public Road, when it turned south onto Zeeburg Public Road, and proceed west. At that time, the motorcyclist was proceeding in the said direction, some distance behind the said minibus. Smith reportedly swerved south to avoid a collision with the minibus but ended up colliding into the right-side front door of the bus. As a result, he fell onto the roadway and received injuries about his body. His motorcycle ended up under the front of the bus.
Smith was picked up by public-spirited citizens and transported to the Leonora Cottage Hospital but was later transferred to the West Demerara Regional Hospital. He received injures to his hip and is still hospitalised.
A breathalyser test was conducted on the driver of the minibus, and no trace of alcohol was found. She was released on station bail pending investigations. (G9)
