A motorcyclist from the mining town of Linden tragically lost his life on Friday morning after he crashed into a car at Sir David Rose Public Road (Five Corner intersection) at Mackenzie, Linden.
Dead is 26-year-old Keon Marvin called “Buck” of Lot 252 Mackenzie, Linden.
Reports are that at about 10:45h on Friday, motor car PAE 6091, owned and driven by a 22-year-old resident of Ituni, was proceeding east along the northern side of Sir David Rose Public Road in Mackenzie, while the motorcycle, CH 6074, ridden by Marvin, proceeded in the opposite direction
According to Police, as the car and motorcycle approached the intersection, the driver of the motor car made a sudden right turn south into Washer Pond Road and ended up in the path of the motorcyclist, who collided with the left side rear door of the car.
As a result of the collision, the motorcyclist was flung some distance onto the roadway, where he received bodily injuries. He was picked up by public-spirited citizens in an unconscious condition and taken to the Mackenzie Public Hospital Complex, where died while receiving treatment.
The car had two occupants, an 18-year-old and a 12-year-old, both of Ituni. However, they did not receive any injuries.
The driver of the motor car is in Police custody, assisting with the investigation.
When contacted, Marvin’s family was too distraught to speak to the media. (G9)
