MP Figuiera supports Guinness Cage football championships
Member of Parliament and sport enthusiast, Jermaine Figuiera on Tuesday August 21 added his name to the long list of sponsors in the ongoing Guinness Cage Street Football Championship when he donated several balls to the tournament organizer Three Peat Promotions.
The seasoned football administrator and native Lindener who is currently ascending to great heights in the political community stated that he is committed to the development of sports especially at the community and grass root levels, in which he believes are the foundations of discipline. He also stated that such initiatives foster social cohesion in a nation that is ethnically diverse and declared that he will always be supportive of such enterprises that aim to bring communities together while allowing individuals to expose their talent.
Figuiera also provided incentives in the form of a pair of brand new football turfs that will be given to the Most Valuable Player [MVP] of the tournament. He believes that this will help improve the overall quality of the event as it will award the players talent and skill.
The tournament that started out with 24 teams continues on Saturday with the round of 16 and quarterfinals at the Haslington market tarmac from 19:00h.
