MSC, DCC face-off in final showdown

After a number of intense matches, the champs of the Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA) GCA’s New York Tri-State (NYTS) 50 U-19 Tournament will be decided when Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) and Malteenoes Sports Club (MSC) battle in Sunday’s final. The finals will bowl off from 09:30h where the home team will look to carry their momentum from Friday’s 47-run drubbing of NYTS at Bourda. The big player’s expected to be on show Sunday for DCC are the same players who secured their spot in the finals.

MSC’s Wayne McPherson could play crucial roles in Sunday’s final

National U-19 spinning all-rounder, Sagar Hertheramani set up DCC’s win with 60 not out and could likely play a key role with both bat and ball come Sunday. At one point, DCC were 60-5 chasing 206-8 but Brandon Jaikarran (38), West Indies youth pacer Qumar Torrington (34) and Nkosi Beaton (29) kept their team’s hopes alive.

DCC’s Ashmead Nedd could play crucial roles in Sunday’s final

With West Indies youth batsman and DCC skipper Sachin Singh unavailable due to National U-17 encampment, DCC will rely heavily on their performers from the semi-final match as those players are likely to maintain their form. Also, class youth players like Joshua Persaud and Alphius Bookie who missed out in the semis could come to the party.
MSC will have one huge threat apart from Torrington in Windies U-19 left-arm spinner Ashmead Nedd, who bagged three on Friday and will play a huge role in the finals.
MSC on the other hand have had a decent tournament and with the batting form of Wayne McPherson, Tuen Hicks and Dwayne Bollers coupled with their variety of bowlers; should pose a huge threat to the star-studded DCC team.
