Multi-talented Rodrigues tackles football

Having displayed his prowess in the boxing ring, Region One’s (Barima Waini) Ravin Rodrigues will next take to the football field this weekend, in a bid to continue his conquering ways.
Just weeks ago, Rodrigues travelled to Georgetown to participate in the Pepsi/Michael Parris U-6 Boxing Championships at the National Gymnasium.

Representing the Moruca Power boxing gym located in the North West District of Region One, Rodrigues copped a gold medal and the title of best junior boxer.
The teenager has now set his sights on dominating football. He has officially joined the Golden Eagle football club, and will team up with ten other youths to participate in the Guyana Football Federation’s Moruca sub region’s U-17 Namilco league.
The Golden Eagles will come up against the Dynamite Club on Saturday at Kumaka. In anticipation of the upcoming match, Rodrigues noted that he will be playing to the best of his abilities. “Saturday will be the day of the eagle,” he boasted.
